If you feel even the slightest curiosity about this mysterious instrument, I invite you to come and experience the handpan yourself. All levels are welcome in my lessons — whether you simply want to try it out or wish to go deeper and learn more. This is a safe space to explore new sounds, rhythms, and perhaps even discover something new about yourself.

Lessons are held in Vilnius and Kaunas, but from time to time I also travel to other cities, so keep an eye on updates or feel free to get in touch.

Group Classes

Private Lessons

In private lessons, all the focus is on you, with the content tailored to your pace, goals, and experience. We can explore the instrument from the basics, learn to improvise, create rhythms and melodies, or deepen your existing skills. This is the best choice if you’re looking for personal attention and an individual approach. Private lessons can also be held in small groups.

Group Classes are cozy sessions in small groups of up to six people, where we learn together — listening to themselves and each other, exploring basic techniques, creating different rhythms, and playing in harmony. These lessons are suitable for both beginners and returning students. Sessions take place on scheduled dates, and can also be organized as a private group class for your group

Courses

Courses are a journey of several lessons with the same group, where we don’t just try the handpan, but begin to truly connect with it. Unlike single sessions, courses offer a more structured learning process: step by step we build solid foundations, deepen technique, improvise more, and create longer, richer musical pieces. This is a great choice if you’re looking not for a one-off experience, but for real progress and a clearer sense of how the handpan could become your new hobby or creative outlet.

Mobile Handpan Workshops

I can bring handpan workshops to a location of your choice — a studio, home, office, countryside retreat, or even outdoors. These sessions offer a cozy, engaging experience where participants not only get to know the instrument but also create music together. Each workshop is tailored to the group, the occasion, and the desired atmosphere — from calm, meditative sessions to playful, creative music improvisation circles. The optimal group size is up to 15–20 participants.

Events & Performances

Handpan music for your event — creating a cozy, gentle, and unique atmosphere for any occasion. I can bring hypnotic handpan sounds to subtly enhance your celebration or surprise your guests with a musical performance. At events, I can play ambient background music or prepare a stage performance of any desired length. For a more interactive experience, the performance can also be combined with an educational session or a group handpan workshop.

I’m Tavija — a handpan performer and teacher, helping people discover this unique instrument from the very basics. The handpan was the first instrument that opened the door to my musical journey, becoming a daily source of joy, creativity, self-expression, and inner calm. Now I share this with others — teaching handpan to beginners and intermediate students, hosting group classes and educational workshops, and guiding people as they take their first steps into the world of handpan music.

In my lessons, I draw on what I’ve learned from world-renowned handpan teachers and performers such as Amy Naylor, David Kuckhermann, Alexandre Lora, David Charrier, and others. I adapt these experiences and methods to each student, matching your pace, needs, and learning style. Over 250 students have already tried handpan with me, and each time I see the same thing: even complete beginners quickly experience the musical freedom that the handpan offers.

In my lessons, you’ll gain a solid foundation, guidance, and a space where it’s safe to experiment, make mistakes, and discover your own sound. Most importantly, you’ll leave feeling confident that you can truly play and create music yourself — because the handpan allows you to experience that from the very first touch.

About Handpan Akademija

Handpan Akademija was born from my own experience: when I first became interested in the handpan and looked for ways to learn it in Lithuania, I realized there was nowhere to go. I couldn’t find teachers or spaces where I could try the instrument and see if I would want to own one myself. So, I took my first steps in England, and when I moved back to Lithuania, I immediately knew that I wanted to create what I needed at the beginning of my journey.

This is how the first specialized handpan school in Lithuania came to be — a space where anyone can try this hypnotic instrument and discover that handpan music is accessible to all, regardless of age or musical background.

Today, Handpan Akademija offers private and group lessons for beginners and intermediate students, longer-format handpan courses, educational workshops, and musical events and performances.

Sessions are held in Vilnius and Kaunas, and sometimes I travel to other cities so more people can hear and experience the handpan live. During the classes we use high-quality professional D Kurd handpans, and small groups ensure individual attention, a cozy atmosphere, and a genuine sense of musical community.
